ooooooops. I hope I never get in her sights!

Did she catch him in the ear? can't tell.

That looks like a pretty safe place. Drew

If she shot some one it would be a nice lawsuit....if they live :)
Hope they put he @ a desk job for the rest of her police career

Lots of times cops shouldnt be pointing those damn guns at people IMO. The guy is on the ground with another big cop on top of him, is that really necessary?? Its a wonder more people (including law enforcement) arent killed because of that kind of crap. Damn near popped the other officer in the leg. I know Wakko and our other LE board members will say its for their safety, and their training, and we dont know what he did, but can you say lawsuit?? She almost blew that guys head off.

I can't get that to reopen.?????? I'm not a gun guy but her sidearm went went off for a reason. That's what I'd like to know. That gun didn't know what gender was holding it. I think there was a "Man Show" referrence to female Police and Firefighters. Drew

unintentional firearm discharge

Maybe some of our members who know a little something about this subject can enlighten us as to what can happen . Drew

Side arms for typical law enforcement are double action only. She had to make a complete trigger pull for the pistol to fire. They cannot pull the hammer back and have it ready to fire with a light trigger pull.

Jeez, that was nasty to watch, but I did go back and run it frame by frame and it looks like she hit the asphalt immediately in front of the perp. I'm sure the least he got was a faceful of rocks and debris. Does anyone have the complete story on this deal. Scarey as hell. I've got a Glock 45 similar to what the cops carry and it is not a double action. If you've got a round in the chamber it gets a little touchy.

the pistol went off because the stupid bitch holding it had her finger on the trigger.

modern firearms go off when the trigger is pulled.the cardinal rules of firearms safety are:

1:treat all firearms as if they are loaded.
2: only point a firearm at something you want to kill.
3:keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot.

i won't entertain any excuses from anyone on this one.she was 100% in the wrong and would be standing in the unemployment line if she worked for me.

DITTO:mad:

Two words...

"Administrative leave"

Her dumb ass needs to learn how to handle a pistol before she kills someone or puts a slug in her leg.

Exactly!!!!

She should no longer have a job as a police officer because those kind of mistakes can cost people their lives and once they're gone the old "I'm so sorry" won't bring them back!!!!!!!

There were a bunch of cops that went to the gym I trained at in Maryland. One of the female cops came in occasionally. One night, I was BS'ing with one of the male cops, he told me that she was chasing a suspect in a burglary in Gaithersburg. The suspect hopped a fence at the end of a parking lot. While running, she tried to draw her gun to apparently give him the old "freeze" line. Unfortunately, she must have slipped an eager finger into the trigger guard while running (and drawing) her pistol. It resulted in a 9mm round discharging into her thigh.
Oops.
I've seen individuals who are very skilled in firearms do some very stupid things. A good friend of mine was the sniper for his county's SWAT team and later the rangemaster for the county police academy (in a rather large county, no less). At the time, he was my roommate. I was lounging on the couch BS'ing with him in the living room while he grabbed his shotgun out of his take-home unit. Holding the trigger while pumping the slide resulted in a 12 gauge round into the ceiling. Let's just say we kept that our little secret.

XLR8R and DFO are totally correct. Stupid chick left her finger on the trigger and squeezed it...bottom line. Proper pistol handling places the finger on the frame until you're absolutely ready to pull the trigger.

In her defense, male cops do it to. We had a dude fired a few years ago cause of something called "sympathetic reflex". He stupidly left his finger on the trigger of his Glock (I hate Glocks and their 4.5 # trigger pull!) and when he squeezed his non gun hand around the guy's wrist his gun hand squeezed too...and blew the guy's head off. :O

She did the right thing by not pointing at anyone, but she probably got a couple days off for THAT bonehead manuever.

a friend of mine told me about an officer who accidentally shot a suspect he was holding at gunpoint when he triggered his radio.same deal, both fingers wanna do the same thing.

All Glocks are DA (DA=Doubble Action)!

Not just a DA but a DA only! They are a very smooth and light trigger pull DA but still a DA. DA only means when the you cock then gun then when trigger is pulled the hammer is then pulled back as the trigger is pulled and this is a safer design for LE use (LE=Law Enforcement). In a single action such as a 1911 you cock the gun and te hammer is pulled back then and stays back and when the trigger is pulled it releases the hammer, now if you decocked just the exposed hammer on a 1911 style pistol and then pulled the trigger even if a round is chambered nothing will happen. And is a DA/SA (Doubble Action/Single Action) Such as a H&K USP they ar elike a single action described above but they will have a de cocker swith or can be decocked manualy. If decocked and a round is chambered and the trigger is pulled the weapon will fire.

So for short DA means the hammer is pulled back as the trigger is pulled.

our issue was a sig sauer226- the gun fired the first round double action and the rest single action- you could fire the first round single action by cocking the hammer

i would have to disagree about keeping your finger outside the trigger guard when you are covering a suspect- the reason you cover a suspect is to shoot them if they suddenly become a deadly force threat- in that case the time it takes to move your finger from outside the guard to the trigger could cost you dearly

i ran a swat team for the last 15 years before i retired two years ago(we had 36 men - three full time shifts- i was in charge of and led one of these teams on all operatioins) during the time i spent on this unit we had several accidental discharges - our rule was that if an officer had a second ad he was automatically dismissed from the unit- this did not get them discharged from regular duties even though i stongly believe that any officer who has two ads should be dismissed from the job period

All glocks are single action!!!!!!!!!!!!! ,and she should of ben on the ground helping the other officer hand cuff that perp!!!!!!!
