Ok guys im gonna upgrade my turbo but not sure wich way to go im thinking either a ta-49, or the te-44 hopefully any one of this would work good with my mod's.

Both turbos are basically the same. TA49 looks stock while the TE44 does not. TA49 will use your stock induction system, but the TE44 will require mods to your intake system. Because the TE44 doesn't use the factory style inlet bell as on the TA49, theoretically the TE44 moves a little more air but the difference is small. Both turbos will work fine with the stock torque converter. All things considered I'd go with the TA49.

Advantage of a TA49 over a TE44 :)

The slight HP loss at airflows equivalent to above 24 psi of boost with a stock TR motor is offset by hassle free installation(the ability to use you stock wastegate actuator and inlet piping with no modifications) combined with the ability to tell people your car is "Still Stock" :)

I might be missing something, but I use the stock MAF pipe and stock style WG actuater on my TE44....since i now have a FM, maybe the turbo outlet diam is diff, so you would need a step down/up hose, but other than that...installation of a 44 vs a 49 should be about the same.

If you buy a TE44 with a stock style wastegate actuator included, it will be modified to work with a TE series compressor housing (slight difference in bolt locations). To use the stock actuator, it will have to be modified.

The TE series turbos are shorter than the TA series turbos, so induction piping may be too short in some cases.

The ta49 on mine at 11.7@114,but now shootting for the 11.40s to the 11.50 range if possible.Going to turn up the boost alittle.

I liked the ta-49 alot but someone bought it from me.....

Tell that bast*rd you sold the turbo to that he ought to do you a favor and sell it back to you at twice the price, especially now that the compressor housing is all polished up. :)
