Gentlemen,
Good evening, I've owned my GN for a little over 2 years. When I first got the car I began studying TR information, and tweaking the car. Soon, I was over powering the 245-60-15 BFG Radial T/A's the car wore on it's rear end. I invested in a set of 275-50-15 BFG Drag Radials about a 18 months ago. A little more studying, a little more tweaking. Now I'm at the point that the DR's can be turned into rubber pudding with ease. A first gear punch at 15 mph sends the DR's loose from the pavement all the way through the rest of first, and very deep into 2nd gear, sometimes even into third. It's a fun ride, to say the least, but no good for acceleration. Here are a few questions:

1. What is the most sticky radial tire out there?
2. Has anyone been able to fit a 295 tire under the TR?
3. Would going a little taller, (275-60-15), help the traction?

Thanks for the replies. - BB

Yes. Much more than going wider with a non drag radial.

You might need some suspension tweaking, too. Right side airbag air adjustment, a big rear swaybar, etc.

OK

I might lean toward 275-60-15 Drag Radials next time. When I get some time I'm going to dig into suspension tweaking and see what I can find out. - BB

We started playing with these.. so far they "hook" promising :)

Tires

HTH.. btw we'll be at the track running a car with them. See how it goes.

68 bucks a tire  .. They almost required no wieght static balancing them. >25 ounce per tire on Welds.

That's pretty good because the set I had back in the 90's from them needed 1/2 a wheel worth of weights and still "hopped" going through the traps.

I picked up a solid 3 mph switching to BFGDR's from recaps (I think the hopping was setting off the knock sensor) :)

Can't beat the price with a stick, though and they last forever (if the tread doesn't separate)

I hear ya.. maybe the quality has improved?

My buddy just bought them 2 weeks ago, so verdict is still out. No street complaints from them yet..but until he puts on at least a couple thousand miles.. then we'll know for sure.. I guess ..

Any tire that requires a lot of weight in my opinion defective. And i've had bad Firestones, Goodyears, etc.

just thought i'd give an option.
