Will a 87 oil cooler fit on my 84?

I want to install a oil cooler. I will buy a aftermarket cooler. But for the send/return piece that has the hoses that come off it, that the oil filter bolts onto on the 86/87, cars bolt right onto my 84?

Yes, it's a bolton. I've been running one for years. You will notice that your oil pressure does not fall off as much once hot. I recommend a good stacked plate (B&M style) external cooler. I first went with the stock 87 lines into a stock 87 radiator but I like the external much better.

I just went to www.bmracing.com, and it looks like I have 2 choices, the supercooler, or the Hi-Tek cooler. Whick do you recomend?

Yes they will. The oil filter adapter or the plate that the filter screws onto is the same on all Buick V-6's for 1984-1987.

Cool! thanks. One more question, is it recomended to get a OEM one, or do they make better aftermarket ones that bolt on the same way? And if so, where can I buy? I haven't had any luck searching on my own.

Anyone have pics of the 87 oil cooler to a F-body radiator?
Does this work?

The F-Body radiators have the trans cooler but don't have an oil cooler in them. Have to use external.

hey!!! don't go turning up my older threads. I look like an idiot enough as it is still, without somebody bringing up my old questions.

I finished doing my f bod radiator conversion a few days ago. I've put about 50 miles on the car and haven't seen over 168 degrees yet. My ramchargers haven't even came on, but weather wasn't over 40 degrees. I did ops check them with the relay to make sure they would kick on when warm enough. I am guessing that when I get a new chip, it will turn the fans on sooner than the stock 87 chip. While I had everything apart I went ahead and installed a aftermarket Derale oil and transcooler. It was a extremely easy install, and the oil send/return adapter looks almost just like the 86/87 stocker. I can't get used to all that room inbetween the rad and engine, and with my tranny running cooler, I've noticed that the perimeter is a little bit wider where it will knock off the second gear tire chirp when your accelerating just right. When I was doing some searches on oil coolers, I couldn't find any reason why the 86/87's would need a cooler any more than the hot airs, yet gm still bothered to put them on, (except maybe for cooling the larger turbo?) which means they had to have pretty good reason to spend the extra money to do that. (of course theres the issue of the underperforming radiator that has 3 jobs now instead of 2) So it just made sense to go ahead and install one especially with how cheap they cost. I ran the hoses up through the opening behind the headlights so they wouldn't be touching the radiator tanks or have to go through such a tight bend radius. I could have fabbed some tubing I guess, but didn't really see the need. I used a larger piece of hose and some tie wraps to hold the hoses onto one of the plastic spokes on the fan shroud to keep them from touching or rubbing on any metal parts. Next I'll install the bigger filter.
