Will a rear end from a GN fit a 70 Cutlass?

Friend wants a 10 or 12 bolt rear end for his 70 Cutlass but I was wondering if a rear end from a Gn would work with out a bunch of fab work? Anyone done something like this before?

I put one in a 78 cutlass. Bolted right in no problems.See if you can find out if a 78 & 70 are compatable.

I think the 78 is a G body and the 70 is an A body. Don't know if that matters we were just curious to see if it would work.

64-72 GM A-body interchange

73-77 GM interchange

78-88 GM G-body interchange

If you try to mix and match its a BIG hassle ;)

The upper control arm tabs on the axle are at a different angle.
The coil spring perches are different and in the wrong spot
The lower shock mounts are at a different angle.
And the G body 8.5 is approx 3 inches narrower than the 68-72 rears.
Best bet is to look for a 71-72 Cutlass or Skylark with an 8.5
