Will stock shifter and cable work with th-350?

And if so...please give me details on how to. And if they won't please point me in the right direction. The bracket that holds my cable does not seem to be fitting to the pan just right...it's either to long or to short.

Actually I think mine was put together with duct tape. never has shifted right.

Have you tried to order a bracket for a floor shifted car that
used a TH350 such as a late '70's Camaro or Firebird? You might
have to buy a bag of three or four to get one from GM, though.
Maybe a salvage yard, tranny shop or friend has a bracket that
you could use.
