I am wiring up a GN motor and have a problem with the fuel pump wiring.

1. First off the diagram from Gnttype.org shows only the tan/white and black wires coming from the fuel pump. My walbro 340 has black, tan/white, and pink wires.

2. If I take a battery charger for testing the fuel pump will run if I ground the black and give 12v to the tan/white. However, it will also run if I ground the tan/white and give 12v to the pink. If I ground the black and give 12v to the pink then a short is created with massive sparking.

So how do I hook this up to my car with the solenoid and all? I took all the grounds that attach to the back of the cylinder head and attached the negative battery charger cable to it. Then I hook the tan/white wire to the gray wire of the solenoid. Then I put 12v to the pink wire. Turn the key on and nothing happens. This is with the black from the pump not connected to anything. If I hook that ground up to the other grounds and negative battery charger cable it shorts out like crazy.

What Am I missing here guys?

wiring

Pink wire should be for the sending unit.
Gray wire from relay should go to the tan/white at pump.
Black wire should have a good ground.
Make sure the relay and wiring are OK etc.
