Dropping my fresh engine in tomorrow. It has been 10 months since it has been running . Decided to rebuild because I pushed a gasket and dumped a bunch of coolant in the crankcase. Upon closer inspection I saw that almost all the pan studs on my Race Jace girdle had broke. Of course he totally made good on the incident with new hardware and told me to torque to 28 ft lbs. Anyone else have this problem? I didn't think that I did too much damage to the bearings, but the coolant DID have enough time to do the damage. Anyway I waited 4 months on the machine shop, and spent about 3 weeks building this thing at work during lunch. After all the wait and all the sh!t morons give me at work I just hope that all goes well. There is always hope I guess.

Well, didn't happen last weekend, doing it at work and has to be done by 2:00. The car is at my house and my buddy was going to trailer it up there, but didn't get to my house till noon.
. So now I got a plan A B and C to get it on this weekend. Sure hope to run sub 12. (te52, SMC, 50#s, MMC 98 octane chip, JE's, ATR cam, and girdle for safe measure). MMMmm, beeeer. Hope to get a few runs before the season is over. Look for the most oxidized car out there.

Hey disco, any luck on the motor? I saw one GN at the track Friday, and I sure hope that wasn't you! If you were there earlier, I might have missed you, being that I finally showed up at 10:00. I went to Dalhart this weekend also and made a few passes during their semi-annual race meet. I got a wicked sunburn to show for it! There were probably 4 GN's (The most I've seen in one event) along with a Northstar-powered dune buggy on spray. He did some badass wheel stands up and down the track during the burnout contest. The next race up there will be the first Sunday of May, 2003.
Anyway, anyone who has ran at the "Smokin'" Amarillo Dragway knows what a junky track it is, and the elevation is a killer. Good luck on those 11's. Hopefully, I'll owe you a cold beer!

OK gentlemen, time to relay some of my relief and exhileration. Not all has gone smooth, but I finally got it fired today. . A year sure goes by slowly living vicariously through the members of Turbobuick.com. but it ran, smoothly, and with no leaks so far on the 8 mile trip home from work. By far the roughest build I've done so far circumstance wise. Such as a boss that doesn't think I have the right to use MY $15,000 worth of tools at work on my free time, a machine shop that did a great job but took over four months to do it, back orders, back orders, and backorders. So what... it runs now. Just got to jack with some poly motor mounts I can't get to line up (not bashing, I know Paul is a stand up guy and will stand behind his product). Every car is different. Some other small things to do, like loom and rerun some wires, since I had to limit myself to four hours to stab the engine at work saturday , and check and recheck everything. Sorry to say that I missed out on the Dalhart digs, I heard it was really cool. Us panhandle boys should make it a point to meet up sometime and introduce ourselves. We can try to guess what the board says at the strip since all the lights are always burned out. I think I might contribute to the cause and tip them a pack of light bulbs when I pay my entry fee.

LVD in New York State has the same problem. Nothing worse than black lightbulbs on a black sign.
Makes it fun to guess the times though.
