I was installing my 3" down pipe and realized that I cant swing the pipe up far enough to get the 2 bottom bolts on the turbine housing. The down pipe is right on the bottom of the heater box
At casual glance with the GN parked next to the Monte, the boxes appear the same. But upon closer inspection, the box on the GN is clearenced to clear the down pipe. How many people have run into this on their conversions?

i have looked at both and it is hard to see the difference but i know the put a turbo sticker on it for a reason...:D

dont know what they're worth but i might sell a turbo heat/air box if its worth it.

been there just cut the box with a wiz wheel or something similar and reform it with some tigar hair fiberglass sand and paint you will be the only person who ever knows .... unless they read this post ;)

maybe this is why most part stors have different part #'s for a turbo and a non turbo heater core too?

That is quite possible Frank. I know the Evaporator is unique to the turbo cars. The bends on the pipes are quite different and I had to replace that as well.
My advice to anyone who wants to attempt this swap is to make sure you have a large wallet and save yourself some grief and get an 86-87 Turbo Regal parts car to swap the parts from as you end up changing a ton of stuff!
