I'm going to have a mid 10 sec engine built with all of the goodies such as 72 inj, 70 turbo, GN1 heads, 218/218 cam blah blah blah. When I go to the track or cruise at nite I'll have it sipping on the good ol C16 stuff. My question was lets say I just wanna run to the store with it would I be able to run it safely with 93 pump gas under no load?? My second question was where could you get or order some C16 fuel from and how much would it cost for a drum of that stuff??!! How long would the C16 last in a metal drum without the quality of it going down??

I do not see where a problem would arrise as long as you keep your foot out of it. Kinda hard thing to do wouldn't ya think when one of the mustake boys roll up on ya? Then guess what...Pop goes allot of things!

If you are diciplined enough grasshopper you can achieve this goal...

You could on Alky. I have an SMC kit on my own car and run 93-94 Octane Pump gas with my TE45A set to approx 25-27lbs of boost. It constantly amazes people.......including myself.
My goal is 10's on pump gas and alky. We are getting close ;)

Why wouldn't it be safe to cut the boost back to ~16#? normal 93 octane level of boost should work right?

Ugh, two chips.
If you do your own you'd be surprised when you have them really right what you can do.

I was thinking that with the right chip and turning down the boost to 15 psi would work just fine. Once I finish my project I will add an alky kit from SMC but wont be for a while. I aint dumb enough to open the throttle wide open just to impress somebody else and have to shovel up the $5,000 mess I made..... i dont think so!!!

It won't hurt a thing, just don't floor it. (Is that possible?;) ) Seriously though, under no load, it'll be ok.

Eric

get a 16 position maxeffort chip.half the positions are for pump gas(18º)and the other half are for race gas(24º).when you change fuel you flip the switch and adjust the boost.

hell,i'm running 24 psi on alky on the pump gas timing right now.if i put in race gas all i'd have to do is flip the switch and turn off the alky.

later,sean

with a 70 turbo and 15 lbs of boost you will run into the dreaded turbo surge.....big turbos just don't work very well at wot with low boost.....in other words, your combo is not real "street" friendly unless you have alky or race gas

ask me how I know:D

hummm these maxeffort chips seem very useful and effective espeically when converting back and forth to 93 and 116 octane!! My concern is not if it will be fast or quick on pump gas... if someone is that serious about seeing how fast it can go or how it measures up against their car then i'll just tell em that I've got to get the cookies outta the oven that I'll be back in a few mins if you get my meaning;)

i run a ME chip with 94 octane i can run 20 psi no probelms.to much$$$ to run c-16 for anything but races.

I drive mine on pump gas alot I been all over town today with it.

I put street chip in it with 20 degees timing and I've got boost about 18-19# and drives just fine.

as far as c-16 you'll have to check with someone who sells it since price will vary.

to get it strait from vp you need a business license and a tax ID #

pump gas

I run 14#'s and pump gas all the time, besides racing with 116, including wot blast. good luck

Why would I need a bus license to purchase some C-16.... .is it because its hazardous material or something. When you say directly from the VP what do you mean by the VP.... please forgive me for my ingornace. And I'm sure it will vary but a ball park figure??

A Hardcore speed shop can sell you a drum. I have a local guy who sells it.

I got the email in my mail box from vp wanting me to varify a business lisence and tax id # before they will even give me prices.

thats why I stated to find someone that sells it and buy from them.

vp is the people who make c-16 fuel.

I am about to start selling it myself so :p

untill my account is set up and I know what I'll be gettig it for I havent a clue what I'd sell a drum for.

but when you buy a drum from someone unless you have a business then you will be paying retail ...average is $7.50 a gallon so figure around $400 for $55 gal but most will give you some cut but I'd say atleast $375

Red:

Be careful selling motor fuels. I know as a gasoline retailer in NJ there is a 33 cent PER GALLON tax. (State, federal and superfund taxes) Make sure you wont be liable for this if you become a dealer. You may also need a permit from your state/locality to sell motor fuels to the public. We have to have a permit based on the dispensers we have.
