I need some advice, help and comfort. I wrecked my 240sx Monday when some guy pulled out in front of me. The body shop I took it to said when the adjuster was there he was talking about totaling the car. I really love this car and know the price that they are going to want to give me will never be enough to buy another 240sx. I have not heard from the adjuster personally yet I am waiting for that call. What should I do?

What year?

I know I have seen the 240s early 90s model drop in price, you may want to see about "totaling and them letting you keep the car. Pick one up cheap then put all your good stuff in it?

I had a '95 they are hard to find and are expensive when you do find them. I did not have anything on the car. I just do not want to go though the searching process again to find another one at a good price. The closet one I can find that is priced right is in Florida.

I work as an estimator at a body shop and if the car is a total loss, you don't want to buy it back and here's why. Once the insurance company totals it, it will have a "Salvage Title". That's not a big problem in and of itself, but in most states you will have to have a dealers license or know someone who does to have it inspected after its fixed. You may be better off to find another 240. Check on what I said because it does differ from state to state. HTH. ;)

Totaling Out

I meant that they would treat it as if it were a total loss and you always keep the car in your name. My brother has done this with a few of his cars, he did have to reduce the loss amount by $250. In KY you just have to have the sheriff come out and make sure the car wasn't built with stolen parts. Your body style still is a bit more than the early 90 models.
