I popped off the cover and the torque convertor is stamped 7
all around which tells me it is not the original D5
What convertor is this? Please help, thanks

A D7. This is the converter that was put in Deisels It will probably not stall enough for a TE44/TA49 to spool properly.

That makes sence because my new TE44 has a ton of lag.
Do you know where I can get a new D5 or equivilent.
I want as quick a spool as possible.
If there is a better convertor out there for my turbo let me know.
Thanks!

If you have to change the convertor anyways, why not look into one of Bruce Toelle's 9x11 Extreme convertors. They were $595 last time I checked and your turbo will spool like lightning.

Where can I find Bruce does he have a website.
Here are the mods done to the car. I would like to know if that convertor would be a great fit.
Stock block, heads, cam
TE44 (Craig Turbo)
3" SS ATR DP
3" SS ATR Exaust
powerplate
50# delphi's
walbro 340
ATR cold air
Adj. fuel reg.
Pit Bull chip
smc alky
pte oiler system
Thanks for the reply:)

You could do just as well with your build using a 2800-3000 stall LU converter for half the money of a 9/11.
