what is the capacity of a stock fuel tank? when the guage shows empty how many gallons are still in the tank? is the stock fuel guage accurate enough to get a rough idea of how much gas is in the tank? since the float doesnt measure the last bit of reserve gas should i also factor that amount into my xylene equation?

thanks:)

The one thing you can rely on regarding the stock tank and gauge is that it will never read consistant between two cars. The tank is an 18 gallon but will not hold a full 18.

If you were to drain the tank from the fuel rail there would be approx 1 gal remaining.

That being said, I've run a lot of Xylene in my car and have always used a rule of thumb method to measure the ratio. And the max ratio you should consider is a 30% mixture. That means 3 gallons of xylene and 7 gallons of pump gas for a total of 10 gallons. This gives just under 100 octane as I recall. I've never considered it important to measure it with super accuracy.

Accoring to the GN/T-Type website, it is 1 gal to 3 gal of gas which will give you 4 gal mixture of approx 99-100 octane fuel using 93 gas.
Or 3 gal of xylene to 9 gal of gas for 12 gal.

Unless your 3 to 7 gal gas is allowing for what may be in the tank already.

What I do is go to the gas station, add 4.5 gal of xylene to the tank and then fill the tank with gas.
If I already had xylene/gas mixture, then I use a 5 gal jug to mix it up in.

Just always use the ratios everyone is mentioning, 3 to 1. I use 5 gal in a full tank, then just add 1 gal Xylene to every 3 gal gas you add when refilling the tank. Also add an oz of MMO (Marvel Mystery Oil) per gal of Xylene added.

I am beginnng to see a lot more people using the Xylene now :) . I just started awhile back and have been happy using it at the track too. I was going to do the alky, but think I will wait for the propane now :) . Add a higher timing chip and more boost with the Xylene mix and you'll like the results :D .

if you can never completely fill the tank up, then how many gallons is usually considered as full?

You CAN fill the tank full. You can't fully empty the tank.
Factory spec says 17 or 18 I forget (CRS problem).

You can't run or drive out (or I haven't been able to) all the fuel in the tank. The pump suction doesn't go all the way to the bottom of the plastic sump in side the tank. And the plastic sump is about 1/8" to1/4" thick.
