All Florida Turbo Regal/TTA Owners Sign in here

Hello from Sanford, fl. I am the district manager for Buick gmc for the Jacksonville to savannah district. For those looking at my profile@ —I used to live north of Allentown, pa . Thanks to GM—transferred down here. Somewhere in my new garage is my 1986 GN. If I could find sometime and...

    Engine Knock...

Noah--my question here--are you prepared to tear the bottom end down and put a new crank/bearings in this engine--assuming that there is no other damage. My best guess is that if you can do this type repair and you bought the car at significantly less than one with a sound engine--it may be...

    Off the floor horsepower

Justin--I worked for technical assistance dept at Buick at the time and had a brand new 87 GN that was always slower than other guys that I worked with--why? Just exactly for the reasons you stated--one car may have slightly better waste gate actuator, another car may have a slightly crisper...

    Missfire intermitent problem (video)

Steve--I have watched your video twice and have a couple of questions--what type of maf are you running? Stock or ls1 or lt1? 2. What chip are you running? 3. You say new motor--misfires are either fuel or spark related. Start with spark--wires, plugs, crank sensor, ignition module...

Need help -Just Bought an 84 GN - Not running?

Here is a quick check for the ecm--when you turn the ignition switch to on position--do you see the check engine light on dash come on? If you see the light--the ecm has at least power and is on--if it allows the injectors to fire is another matter. My bet is to see if you have power at the...

    Not a good weekend

Been there, done that and got the t-shirt but did not like it. Seriously--I had a rubber spacer destroy my turbo and I sent it to bison and he fixed it better than new and stands behind his work. He is the "guru" on turbos for our cars and can modify it you want more power too. Objects...

    Brake Fuse Blew

My suggestion is that your powermaster pump motor is shot, if you can find a replacement, and then also need an accumulator probably might fix it then what? Vacuum booster and a new master cylinder is probably the cheapest conversion. Hydroboost is more involved, but gives a lot more braking...

    Brake Fuse Blew

Your powermaster electric motor is like a starter motor--it was never designed to run more than 10-15 seconds at a time. The weak link in the system is the accumulator diaphragms loses it's pre-charge and therefore has nothing for the pump motor to push against--therefore it runs way longer...

    Pin striping

No grand nationals came from the plant with pinstripes--it was a dealer installed or perhaps a customer requested item installed by a dealer at the time of sale. I worked on the tac line in flint, mi at that time and saw dozens of gn's put into company car service. Dp

    Cruise control.

My thought here is that if the connector at the cruise servo is disconnected and the servo is still holding vacuum--the servo valve internally is stuck--servo is bad. Did you give it the "tap" test? Dp

    Heat stopped working.......

My guess would be if you have no fan at all--check the blower resistor module on top of the hvac case. If the resistor(s) are blown no fan or only one speed may occur depending which resistor wire broke. It is used to give you different speeds on your fan. Local auto parts or Amazon will have...

Anyone running duel Dodge Intrepid Fans

Rich--I have the dual fan set up from kirbans also. The most difficult part of the install is figuring out how to mount the fans. I went to lowes and bought some shelving brackets and used the existing fan mounting bolts and nuts on the brackets bent to resemble a z-shape and with the plug and...

    Would anyone recommend Kirban's Book

I would recommend all of kirbans books as I used them when I purchased my GN. Great tips and stuff that will save you a heart break or headache on buying one these beasts. The turbo buicks are a breed of their own and you really can't compare these g-bodies to say a olds 442, or a monte SS...
