An E55 bone stock is definitely a handful for a chipped and pullied Cobra as the vids showed. Of course, at over twice the list price of an '04 Cobra, IT SHOULD BE!!! (However, the driver of the Cobra seemed to have some difficulty shifting - he needed to drive it like he stole it to have a chance against the 5 speed auto that is purpose built in the AMG. But, it sounded almost like he was not powershifting the car(?).)

Good vids - thanks for the links!

There's a guy up here at the local track that has probably the leading # of passes out there on his. I figured it was all modded out because it really kicks a lot of street cars a$$es out there. I am not up on the import market and todays "fast" street cars, but after that video it makes sense what the track shows this car to be capable of.

It seems the Mercedes was launching better than the Mustang, and just kept its 1-2 car length advantage the remainder of the race.

I've always thought (maybe incorrectly) that the imports tend to emphasize torque & HP at ridiculously high RPM bands.

Versus a well tuned Buick with lots of low end torque, the outcome of the race may have been different.

I agree...cant really tell in the first vid, but judging by the headlights, the Mercedes really got a jump on the Cobra in the 2nd vid. My '03 Cobra was the worst shifting manual I have ever owned...even after the Steeda quadrant and shifter.
