Got as far as removing the plenum and intake manifold after work today before the heat just got to be too much. Took hour and half to get that far with all the hoses and wires to remove. Now I know why my friend quit as a mechanic years ago. In that process I discovered the EGR passage clogged up with what looks like dried up oil and carbon deposits. So yet even more to do that originally planned, thou I figured there'd be other stuff to do.
Was wondering if anyone has any advice as I'm going thru this to make things maybe easier than I'm making em. Also its the drivers side only it seems that I blew, can I replace just that one or should I do both. Usually go with the if it aint broke don't fix it, but since its so much work to get the the HG's, should I just replace the passenger too? I've got the RJC Racing Indestructible SS gaskets for em.
Also I'm still trying to ID the injectors in the car, they are 3 nozzel with green stripe ones and only number on em is 1166 behind the electrical connection.

Thanks for any input in advance. Without your posts and what I've read here I'd never had considered doing this myself to begin with.

I would just replace both of them while you're at it. I mean it's a lot of work to do again IMO. My green stripes are 42.5 "009" injectors the #'s on them are:03181AA and 621031. The older ones have the #: 5208009 on them. They are 3 hole. The 30lb injectors are :5207009 and are 2 hole. So hopefully there is another set of #'s on your injectors like around the ring. HTH.

Look over at other side if you see any hint of gasket material sticking out
do it. If i were you do both sides usually other side is on the way. Spend
money on machine shop head cleaning and straighting. Clean egr passage
way out be careful i used a pick and coathanger.
Fun part is cleaning motor of gasket material. There are no short cuts.

the blown HG wasnt something happening over time, I adjusted the boost controller little more than I thought and it hit 24psi for couple sec till I heard the knock. Not actually totally sure the HG is blown, just going by the most common prob after such a stupid move. Only thing I got evidence wise is I saw slight puff of white exhaust from back side of heads on drivers side. But only did that once, since then there wasnt actually any bad signs, car still ran normal, thou I didnt drive it much after so as not to do any hidden damage.
