10,000 oil changes

hello people; Talking with some co workers who bought new Toyotas and that's there oil change requirement. It seems kinda long but what has changed? I know of synthetic oils but is the engine made differant now?

I think its mostly the oil and oil systems. Rotational friction vs impact friction on the valvetrain.

I go 12,500 in my Silverado with Amsoil. Then I change the filter add a quart and go another 12,500.

Oh and its a 2000 5.3L with 250,000 miles

GF-5 SPEC'S .. ALL NEW OIL MUST MEET THAT 10.000 MILE SPEC . OIL FILTER ABOUT 4500 MILES AT MOST .

i've done 10,000 mile change intervals on a couple of cars... if the oil still looks and feels good, why drain it out and replace it?

i don't go by them, but if you have a newer vehicle with an oil life monitor, it will tell you to go about 10,000 miles if you do a lot of highway driving.. the one in my '01 GTP says that the oil life is at 65% after almost 5000 miles, and the 0W30 Mobil 1 still looks and feels almost as good as it did when i poured it in..

hello people; Wow I think that's pretty dam good. This vehicle burns no oil and no oil is needed between oil changes? If so that a WOW again and very impressive. I'd say keep up with what your doing. I've never had a new vehicle and if I ever do I'd listen to the manufacturer. I think?
Now lets talk about our cars. Maybe if you push it to it's limit often you need to change it's oil often and with the Mobil 1 I've been using I go 5000 between changes. Also if my car sits for months without use (like now) I'll change it sooner.
