Yesterday at Bowling Green, Lee Thompson went 10.77 @ 126mph. How's that for some hot-air?

Oh my!! Very nice time. Nice to hear that, thanks for the info, and congrats to Lee!!

Keep it up!!

Lee....

God damn thats a good time. What's his setup does anyone know. Lee let us know? I think the hot air comunity would appreciate it. I want to cross into the 10's my self.

yes thats super, however i dont like the way you use the LORDS name like that!:(

That's awesome. Hopefully more and more people will follow now that the barrier had been knocked down. How about some info on the combo especially the intake manifold mods and heads. Also, is he spinning more rpm with the stage motor?

This would be a great topic in the lounge, I'm sure there would be some interesting feedback.

stock ported intake--------production iron heads---------same rpms as usual

HOLY ****....

Congrads.... LEO and BIG DADDY (BTW, who was driving..) I knew there was a 10 sec Hot Air somewhere. I am now waiting on a 9 sec Hot Air... Any chance, you will produce anymore 3" down pipes and/or headers. You have the upper hand and tried-true, PROVEN part to make a 10 sec Hot Air. I lot of people did not listen to some of your combo (cam=204-218 ESP,BTW ESP did a 600hp build up in High Tech and the car ran 10.90's without breaking in the motor). I hate I missed HISTORY:D . I do not think anyone will be picking on ANY HOT AIR's ANYMORE

I don't know his total combo but the Stage motor is surely helping. I would think most hot-airs can do it. What does it take:

-Well ported big valve heads
-Port matched intake
-Good sized cam
-Turbo bigger than a 63
-Good traction setup
-Injectors larger than 55's
-Good bottom end

In the absence of an intercooler only race gas/alcohol as a charge-air temp reducer.

Main things is 210 or bigger cam, killer heads, 66-70mm turbo and 72's. I bet most could do it with a set of big coconuts!

We think the biggest factor for making the HP with his car is the new John Craig turbo and the billet roller comp cam (218-224)........the turbo is a stock 86/87 housing with the 85 adaptor neck welded on. John said it had the largest wheels he could possibly put in that housing without breakink thru. I run a 70 turbo on my 86 and dad's exhaust wheel is a helluva lot bigger than mine.and if I remember correctly the compressor wheel is a 66..but I'm not real sure....Dad was driving........until 2morrow when I'll stick my size 15 on the throttle and try to shove it thru the floorboard.........

I picked up a 204/214 for the new motor and was just wondering what the theory behind this pattern is? I have done some reading on it but most seem to like the cams like 214/210 and 212/212 so it has me a little:confused:

I'd like to bring this to the top again. Everytime I come to this forum and see the topic it amazes me that it actually happened (even if I don't agree with the cam logic :) . Great job!

Besides the stage bottom end for reliably that motor is remarkably stock. It gives me hope for my car.

Yesterday ( Saturday) ' Dad ran a 10.88 with his first time run. 2nd time run was a 10.85 @ 126+............1st round of eliminations in Bracket 1 he dialed a 10.85........then proceeded to run a 10.81 @ 126+ (breakout)........

I ported my stock intake too, inlet modification and outlet porting(without cutting it open)and could'nt believe the results. There is a hell of a lot of material to remove!I posted a while back on how to do it but nobody seemed interested.

I saw the 10:88

I got to see the end of the 10:88 run. I was just walking up to the starting line when he was finishing the run. I wasn't sure it was him as there was another blue car ( with t-tops) there. When I saw the time I asked if that was Lee but, no one knew. Later i found him and the car before we left and saw the 10:88 on the window. It was great to see a Hot Air ( very few there) hit the high mark.

his car doesn't have t-tops.........but I did see another lt. blue car there with t-tops but it also had the blackout package

Can you give us some more details on the engine build up? I know Im very interested.:)

from what lee told me at bg-

-4.1 stage 2 shortblock w/roller cam.
-ported factory iron heads
-port matched stock intake
-john craig 87 housing turbo w/66 wheel
-2 stage alcohol injection(methanol)

i got to meet lee and see his car run a couple of 10's.very nice guy and an awesome car.

later,sean
