I'm pulling the pump to install the PTK pump tube kit. Would it benefit to change to a 13 vane pump at the same time?
Add says
200-4R high performance / high volume pump rotor kits. Turn your seven or ten vane pump into a thirteen vane pump. This kit will eliminate irregular pump pressure above 5,000 RPM. Transmission must be removed to install this kit. (When using a 13 vane pump don't raise the motor speed above idle until the transmission is full of fluid, doing so may break the pump rotor.)

More vane count does not increase volume of oil delivery, but does "smoothen?/dampen) delivery pulsations(noise/buzz sound) the stronger slide springs help the pump continue delivery at higher rpms, stock springs never wanted more than 4500 rpms at factory pressures, it really is a bad pump design for a "volume dependant" transmission such as the 200/700 series, but the factory never designed it to handle what people do to it, lol.
The pump would not be so bad if it had a decent accumulator before sending fluid to manual valve, but does not exist....'cept for a few creative thinker types running around.
Good luck,

Kevin.

PS: NEVER EVER USE ANYTHING BUT DELCO PUMP PARTS, you have been notified.

Thanks, guess I will leave well enough alone.
I'll heed your warning on the Delco pump parts.

Thanks, and I agree that sometimes "Mores Better Rule" works, to a usefull point.
Best to ya,

Kevin.

13 vane is weaker IMO.

10 vane acdelco pump( slide, vanes, etc)no problem.
