I ve recently noticed that a 13 vane pump is available for the 2004r and wanted to know if it would benefit having it over a 10 vane. I could only guess that it would make better or more stable pressure and maybe more volume. anyone got any info?

No advantage. It's pretty much a 'noise, vibration, harshness' issue with the OEM.

Bruce what is your take on this? In all your 2004r rebuilds are you still using the 10 vane?

TIA

10 vane.

Yep we use ten vane and for reasons too. (Imagine that?)
If you look at the rotor guides for the 13 vane rotor you will see there is less than a 1/4 inch or so in one of the vanes. Thats where we see them all crack. Everyone starts at this point. Also everyone I have ever seen is on the thick side of tolerance, meaning if you do not machine the pump to it when hot it will gouge the pump, or lock up and break. We have NEVER seen any performance advantage. It was originally done to knock down pulsation through the electric trans' such as the "E" line of trannys. It was thought to "make smoother" the pulses the solenoids saw. No gain, no big change. I do not reccommend the 13 vane. But, who the hell am I? ROFL My take...
