I ordered a 53 inch driveshaft (51.5 center to center on u-joints) for my 1982 Cutlass with the Grand National 8.5 inch 10-bolt and just discovered a problem. I was told that the pinion yoke that was installed was a 1350 series however it is a 1330. The problem I may encounter now deals with the dimension difference between the 1350 yoke and the 1330 yoke. I was told by a vendor that the 1350 yoke is about a 1/2 inch longer than the existing one which may cause problems installing the driveshaft. Has anyone had similar problems? I'm just trying to get some feedback so I know what to expect. I dont want to run the 1350/1330 combo u-joint but the other option might entail shortening the driveshaft a hair. Any responses would be appreciated.

I was told the same thing...

Thats why my 1350 pinion yoke is still on the shelf. It wont be a big deal to have it shortened if it needs it, but I wonder if there is enough play to avoid having to cut it. I say try it, check the play carefully to see if it is acceptable.

I'm gonna do exactly that. It looks like there may be enough play to accomadate the extra length but I'm not sure. I want the 1350 joints because my big block olds will have 600+ horsepower and quite a bit of torque. I will throw the new pinion yoke on this weekend and post my results, just in case others have the same problem.
