Its hard to believe that the car in my garage with the aweful paint, dry rotted seats and oil stains use to look like this
1400 mile GN on ebay.

Guys I am very proud of mine, and have believed it to be one of the nicest left in existence. It has won concours gold at the GS nationals, and actually has less miles than the e-bay one.
That car is waaaaaay nicer. Somebody is going to get a steal at any price. I looked at the pictures very close and can't believe what i'm seeing.
Impressive and kudos to the previous owner. It takes an unreal amount of work to keep one that perfect. There isn't even any rust on the unpainted parts!

Im going to say that it may have depended on a few different things. The factory didnt put the plastic on, it came on the carpet sets from the manufacture. It was almost molded to the carpet and was pretty heavy. It had little plastic connectors holding it on the carpet, almost like the things that hold price tags on cloths. My car had 14k on it when I got it, but I have known it since new. My buddy bought it in 87. My car still has the plastic covering the dash and instrument cluster pieces as well as the heater/ radio cluster. It still has the little plastic connectors in the carpet too. My factory floor mats have never had shoes on them. I am going to say that this car was shipped and the dealer never prepped it for the showroom floor. It was probably ordered and given as is right off the truck. Most people would never know it had that protective plastic to begin with.

Bidding has now gone past 35k like I knew it should. Hopefully this car will go into the right hands and not some rich dope dealer who's gonna put 24 inch rims on it and use it as a daily driver. I've seen that happen to a mint GN before.

I gotta think the reserve is $40k. is that too much? not really I guess. earning $20k on a $20 investment over 24 years is hardly too much.
its hard to compare this to others that have sold since ive yet to see one this nice. im sure there are several out there as nice if not nicer but probably less then 25 on the entire planet in existance.
that alone may make it worth what he is asking but who the hell would want to drive it? I would think it would go into some guys collection or at least I would hope

Why not drive it and enjoy it.
When I finally buy a GN I will be buying something of this caliber...an unmolested very low mileage show car.....I want to buy a new GN when I do it.

then buy one with 20k miles. it will be nearly as nice if u look hard enough and will have nice tasteful mods for half the price.
new 4 cylinder junks have more power then a stock 87 GN will. they are just SLOW and boring stock.

Is 40k out of the question for this car? Let's examine this for a minute. Say this car went for 20k out the door brand new. Add in the cost of inflation over 24 years = 20 grand in 1987 would be roughly 30k today. Plus the cost of insurance and registration fees over the past 24 years and the 3% feebay charge would surely eat up a 10k profit from this car. Not to mention the time and effort that went into keeping it in this condition. So is 40k out of the question? Not really.

Really? This car is not for you man. Like GNBrett said, there are plenty of other show condition low mileage GN's out there for half the money that can be used as a driver. This car is one of those rare time capsules that are just better off staying a garage queen.

This car needs to stay "as is". If someone were to screw it up after all these years, they need beat with a bag of hammers. I just saw a 9000 mile GN for sale on here not too long ago. There are plenty of 20-30k mile cars to choose from. When I got mine, it had 14k on it. Outside of the bad factory paint, it is nearly perfect. It didnt have the original tires or exhaust, but everything else was. I took the first pieces off of it and when I am ready, I will put it back factory. Probably before 27k or so. If I want to keep going fast, I will get a T type and cage it.

Here's a few of the only pictures of my GN when I brought it home in May of 87. The green sticker was found under the left front seat and written in red ink is 'bad engine noise'. The sticker on the rear glass has a wrong number in the vin. Also notice the yellow dot sticker that is on the left front seat ashtray, it's not the worded sticker that is commonly seen. IIRC, the correct plastic covering on the carpet is the white cross hatch plastic shown in the seperate picture, not the clear plastic as shown in the car. I could go in the attic and find mine.

You get a new Gn from the dealer with a bad engine noise? Was it discounted? Surprised they sold it that way. What was wrong with it?
It still has the same engine in it as when it came off of the carrier. Doesn't make any noises or use oil. I don't know if the engine was replaced before the car got shipped. Almost 24 years later, it still runs strong. That sticker was found stuck to the carpet uinder the seat. It looked exaclty as pictured, wrinkled and torn. It was not stuck onto the car.Was it actually for my car or a practical joke from the assembly line? I don't know. Something like what is on the r/r tire? Also, still to this day, there are visible circles on the rear glass from what I'll assume are marks from suction cups, when the rear lass was installed.
