Is it really needed, i had one in my old intake but not the v2 , it must have a stock one. My car runs in the 188-195* all the time , if i drive the car for a little and get it to 186 it will pull hard, but if i run it two or three times in a row on the street That it starts to lag and slow up. Do you think that it is from the temp the motor is running and that i need a 160 stat. Runs good if its about 60* and under other then that it does not like the heat at all.

hey

just put in a 160 and find out. it will run cooler too so its all good

brent

Wow. Running the stock thermostat really sorta defeats he purpose of all that intercooler work!

The car will be fine btu if you have hot weather, it will really lose power when the temp rises up there compared to running with a 160* tstat..

You should get a robertshaw gen 2 160* tstat - they are good.

where can i get one at , do they sell at the parts store or would i have to order it from somewhere. With it being in the 80-90's it loses power after it starts to heat up , when cold out it runs pretty good i guess.

thanks for the info

160* stats are readily available. I'm holding off 'till next year to get one. I put a 3 core radiator in my car after getting my engine back together and she's never risen above 180* even in 90 degree weather.

Got my 160 stat today , the car ran at 166 when it was warm then seems to raise to the 170's, i think my elec fan is not pulling very much air and i need a good one for it.

Thats about right..

in this florida heat its usually 172ish... at night, or when its cool outside, its about 163-165

how do you ha e your fan hooked up btw, manual switch or ecm? I had a relay kit that would control the fan but it really didnt look like it connected to the fan at all.. but I was told it was for that!

It had a relay, a ground wire, 2 other wires, then a female connector for something..

I have to rewire mine but right now i have a switch under the hood and it runs all the time when i drive.
