Right now I'm using some American Racing 14" Rims, with 215/70R14 Tires.

Lame, but better then what I had before.

My question is this, I plan to soon be buying some 17" Torq-Thrusts, and I don't really want the overall rim and tire to be any larger diameter then my current setup.

Are my tires on 17s gonna have enough sidewall? Or should I opt to go with 16" rims maybe.

I am afraid that if the tire and rim is a larger diameter then my current tire, that I'm gonna rub my inner fender over bumps; I rub in places if I hit a hard enough spot now. Maybe I lowered it too much, but I do like how it sits.

Any thoughts on using 17" rims with a low profile tire is greatly appreciated.

I have 17" TTII's on my car and love them. I think there is plenty of sidewall and I drive my car every day in the seattle weather and on the crappy seattle roads. I went with 245/45 fronts and 275/40 rears and Sumitomo tires that puts my overall outside diameter at 26" which is close to the factory outside dia. I have a link to some pics in my sig. below. My car sits exactly 2" lower than my buddies 20k orig. mile GN sat. I don't know how low your car is but I don't rub at all. I did trim out the inner lip on my quarter panels though.

P.S. I have 17X8 4" BS on front and 17X9.5 4.75"BS on rear. The fronts are an off the shelf sizing and back spacing. The rears I had to order in that particular back spacing.

HYBRID thats a bad ass car man, btw get that jiffy lube oil filter outta there!!!!;)

Thanks:D and that was pre-biggie adapter.;) I work right next to a jiffy lube and sometimes they give me free oil changes to park my car in front of their store. It draws in more customers I guess, but now I bring in my own filters(and YES I check to be sure they tighten the drain plug). Plus it's really confusing when people see the emblem on the front of my car and the jiffy lube garbage bag in my car.:D

Thanks for the info, and your car looks awesome!

I wanted to go with 225/50s Front and 255/45s Rear, but it seems no tire company makes both those tires with the same tread

I dont really want to go as big as 245s and 275s..

Main idea was smaller tires in front, 235s max, maybe 245s, I just worry about clearance issues, and the fact I like having bigger tires in the back, makes it looks better.

but it I can't get matching tires, there isn't much point :(

I run 255s in the front and 285s in the rear with no rubbing with the same backspacing as HYBRIDT does only on Simmons wheels.
BFG-G-Force tires.
