The Registry I started to build a couple of years ago continues to slowly grow. Below is the notice I sent out for April/May 2024. Phil Errett phil@zynetonline.com

Time for the April/May 2024 update of The Registry. We are getting a little closer to the 10% mark of 450 in that we now have potentially 408 rides found.
By the numbers we have:
CATEGORY NUMBERS FOUND
100 GN sold into Canada 26
1900 GN sold into USA 202
2338 “T” 92
1163 WH1 “T” 27
Dead Zone 19
Contacted awaiting reply 42
TOTAL 408 rides
Slight variances in the numbers will occur from month to month as I fine tune/verify who owns what from replies I receive.

Hey There , Mr. Beast
I really Dig my '84 Engine, but I don't think that I can register with you ? It's mated to a 700R4 & it's all in my CJ5 ?
However , I applaud you for doing this bit of History, Sir.

Does an 85 WH1 built in October 1984 count for the registry

Do you know the serial number of the car it came out of?

Phil, I would gather the data from Richie (Lockman). Last 8 of the VIN are stamped on the engine block if from factory built car and not GM service parts supplied as a replacement engine.

The rest of the VIN is straightforward with the only unknowns being the 5th digit and 9th digit.

5th digit would have been K, M or J (K = GN; M = Limited; J = Regal)

9th digit is check digit

If block is stamped, not too hard to determine the donor car.

Hey There Y'all ,
Let me look for that, in a coupla days, & I'll get back to you, OK ?

No rush, but that would be good. Only fly in the ointment is whether or not the 84 was trashed after engine removal (and I could include in the "Dead Zone", OR, was an 87 drivetrain put in and the 84 is still on the road somewhere. No matter, it would be useful as I could scan those already on file. Thanx again for taking some time.

Where , exactly, would my block be Stamped ? . Only # I've found is a " 4 " on the rear right side of the block ?

Hello, I recently purchased a 1984 TTYPE WH1, TTops, with only 41k on the odometer. I purchased from the original owner and love it! Except it's a hot air car, and I would really like 600 hp, with reliability, but I hear it's a pita to do!

Hey GenXer drop me an email and I will reply with what I am all about - The Registry has over 400 rides so far; out of the 5,401 turbo Buicks built in 1984. Phil Errett phil@zynetonline.com also have a few Facebook pages
