Howdy folks, got my car up for sale on BaT this week:

Has not seen much action so might end up selling here.

I set up a Google drive with lots of stuff in it:

And this YouTube playlist with videos:

At the root of the Google drive folder is a build sheet. I created it in markdown thinking it would render well in a browser...but it just looks like a text file. 🤷

I'll put some photos here but there are bunches on the BaT posting and in the Google drive link. $20k would make me happy but the reserve is less. 🙃
I understand that the mass of '87 GNs steal all the glory, so not looking to break into that crowd. This car has been a really fun and special daily driver but need the space and $$$ to fund the next project.

Happy to answer any questions y'all have and/or provide additional photos and videos, though not likely to get any more driving videos anytime soon...stupid winter.

If not clear in the build sheet and videos, everything done to the car was in the name of simplicity and reliability. I've lurked on this site for a long time and have relied on people smarter than me to get the car where it is today. Was my commuter car for a long time and it still sees regular action. When walking up to it in a sea of boring sedans, really puts a smile on your face.

Last day of the BaT auction. Maybe will sell? Has a bunch of watchers but limited bidders so far. 🤷

Bummer, $11k on BaT? That's pretty ouch, off to eBay I guess. Will install all the AC components and see what happens.

My reserve was just $17,500 but didn't even get close. Seems totally reasonable to be 50% the value of a basic '87 GN for a fully restored '85 T. 🤷‍♂️

Nice job on documenting your car for sale. Good luck & hope you find a buyer. Ain't nothing wrong with owning a Hot Air.

Yep, it's been a great car. Super reliable, fun to drive and looks cool.

I'll have to lower expectations though unfortunately. Certainly thought the BaT crowd would be the right audience, but the fact that their search defaults to "Buick Grand National" and T-Types don't even show up should have tipped me off.

The current GN on BaT is riddled with problems, but people just see an '87 and the money flows. Already at $35k and will likely go over $40k. No idea why a sorted '85 T-Type can't pull 1/2 that. 🤷

Now up on ebay for just $18k obo:

30 day listing instead of just 7 on BaT. not exactly the right time of year to sell a car, but we'll see.

GLWS.... on a side note, I like what you did on the stock N90 Turbine Wheel by painting them black. I never really liked the aluminum & gray detailed look of the stock wheel. After a few years (early 90's) I went to the N89 wheel and then finally put on the 87 GN wheels. Now that I see your car with the painted stock wheel I'm going to get my N90's powder coated black and run with them this coming season. Thx for the pic's.

thanks!

yeah, the stockers cleaned up real nice with some light glass bead blasting + prime + paint. as a bonus, black hardly shows brake dust so you don't have to clean them as often. 🙃
