What are the benifits of having this?

Will it give me a better launch?

When do I switch it on and off?

DIS??

2 step will allow you to set the desired boost /rpm level at what you want for launch. This will repeat itself everytime and then you don't have to look at the tach or boost gauge.
It's triggered by the trans brake switch, and is on, only when on the brake.
You set the RPM either with a chip, or in the case of the DIS4, dip switches on the box.

You may have to make some changes in the fuel control to prevent the O2 from calling for changes due to the engine being "out of tune" while on the step.

Can you run a 2 step without a transbrake? Can it be wired into the brake switch? Would you be able to floor it and hit the rpm and the boost you set it to.

Thanks in advance

wiring?

Chris, I'd not wire it to the brake sw. If you did, everytime you hit the brakes w/ the rpms above set limit, the 2 step would turn on.[unless you put a toggle sw in the circuit to disable it after use.] I'd either wire it to the line loc w/ a relay, or to a t-brake button, [and use it like a t-brake]
The DIS, in particular, is taken to ground when it's in effect. So, all the t-brake button would do is ground the circuit.
Might be good practice for when you get a t-brake tranny!!:D :D
Yes, you floor the pedal, the 2 step holds the boost and/ or rpm where you have it set. Let go of the button.. the step drops out and you are on your way!

Chuck,
So all I would have to do is wire the 2 step into the linelock and when the 2 step in grounded it will come on. That seems to easy.

Turbov6,
sorry to butt in on your thread here. Kick me out anytime you want.

Chuck

Yes its for the MSD igniton box.

Would it make sense to have this 2-step without a trans brake?

What rpm's should I set the rev limiter for the 2-step.

DIS??

The 2 step could be used without a t-brake as long as the foot brake could hold the car on the start line at the rpm[and boost]the box is set at...;) ;)
As long as the rev limit is above the 2 step setting, it would not make any difference to what it was set...If you have a rev limit on your chip, you would have to be below that value to make the DIS the primary limiter..I would set the chip limit up above the expected rpm range of the engine and use the DIS limiter. It's easily adjusted and is a random drop of cylinders, not a total cutoff like the chip.

Most line locs have the hot side interrupted and the ground constant. I would use a relay that takes the DIS 2 step wire,[light blue] to ground when the relay closes. I would trigger the relay off of the same side of the line loc sw. that activates the loc. That way, the positive spike can't backfeed the DIS line. HOWEVER!! IF you are going to do a burnout, and want the rpm to exceed the 2 step value, you will have to install a toggle sw. in the feed to the relay, in order to disable the 2 step feature.
Therefore: when you hit the line loc, the interrupt is open, the rpm goes to whatever??? When you stage, you will have to close the interrupt sw, hit the line loc button, mash the pedal. Engine will chatter at the set rpm...

EASY WAY!! Put a normally open button on the console to ground the DIS and be done w/ it..;) ;)
