I have a 200 4r in a 68 GTO so I've jumped over to this forum for advice,
I know the Buick guys know this tranny best. This car has a 455 with Edelbrock carb and intake. I have the geometry correction bracket that Edelbrock makes for this application and am prettty sure the geometry is correct and I'm getting the full 78 degree arc. I've adjusted the length of the cable so that at WOT the cable is fully extended. When I try the factory adjustment procedure by pushing the D ring in, moving the slider all the way in, toward the firewall, then opening the throttle all the way, the cable does not ratchet and the slider remains all the way in. Transmission shifts smooth but soft. Should I shorten the cable a little more to see if it will ratchet out at WOT? I have read how critical the adjustment is and don't want to smoke the clutches.
