Wondering if anyone had any knowledge or ideas about below.

I have a 200 4r with gn valve body, servo and govenor from ck performance. (Also a 2500 stall converter from ck)

Had transmission rebuilt by a local guy and wasn't happy with how it was driving... anyways long story short I'm fixing it on my own.

I measured the line pressures at min and max tv in all gears and heres what I got:

>> Min Max
P 88psi 210psi
R 150 300
N 85 220
4 90 220
3 90 220
2 180 180
1 180 180

Problems are 2nd gear starts (go figure) and weak 2nd gear shifts.

I have the pan off and inspected the pressure regulator valve train looking for something to be stuck or installed incorrectly. Everything seemed fine although it somewhat exploded on my when I took it out, lol.

Tomorrow I'm planning on taking of the valve body and having a look at the gasket, check balls and various valve assemblies.

Anyways just looking for some ideas!!

Nobody has any ideas?

Does anyone know why in some transmissions 1 and 2nd gear line pressure does not change with tv cable actuation?

After some research and a few calls it appears the 200 4r had a max line pressure of approx 185 psi in manual 2nd and 1st gear.

My sources for this would by a TCI document on line pressure and a call to Transware in Toronto who apparently is a reputable 200 4r builder.

My 200 4r manual for rebuilding the 200 4r (from ck performance) claims that the pressure should be ~155 psi at min tv and ~300 psi at max tv. I think this may have to do with check balls ommited in the process specified for the ck recalibration kit.

My research continues... and I am going to pull the valve body and have a look.

If anyone has any suggestions or comments please chime in.

My main problems with my transmission are weak shifts, second gear starts and early shifts through all gears.

If you are using a pink GM PR spring those pressures are correct. White 2.18 spring they should be a little higher. Guessing boost valve is .471. There is not\ TV boost in 1st and 2nd. Line is on top of the TV valve pushing on the small portion of the Rev boost valve. Put a good pr spring in it on rock on.

I appreciate the feedback Lonnie.

I do have the pink PR spring, as you say. However I do have a .500 TV Boost valve to go with this.

I had another Valve body in the transmission and it shifted OK (non-performance vb, shifts were somewhat soft) but none of this excessively early shifting.

I have the valve body sitting on the workbench right now and am going to look through the valves to ensure they all seem to be moving.
