Good evening everyone. I'm curious to know something about the different shift kits available for the 200-4r and their shift characteristics when manually shifting the transmission. Is there a shift kit that makes manually shifting the 200-4r as instantaneous as shifting a manual transmission from gear to gear? I had a 200-4r in my 83 Hurst/Olds that was rebuilt with a shift kit, and there was a delay in the time I'd manually shifted and when the transmission would shift into the next gear.

The reason I'm asking is I have a 69 Cutlass that I'm considering putting a manual transmission or a 200-4r. I REALLY want the 200-4r but only if it keeps the "fun factor" of shifting gears. Thanks in advance.

I should also add that if I decide to go with the 200-4r, I'm calling on Lonnie Diers from Extreme Automatics to do the build so I'm interested in hearing how his transmissions respond when manually shifting.

Thanks

76 views and no response. Am I getting iced out because I don't drive a Buick or something, lol.

No ice. Welcome to the site.

Not a lot of call for manual shifting, as many drag race and let it shift itself.

I would call several of the vendors mentioned and ask them what their kit will do for you.
