Hey guys, I,m new here and could not seem to find the correct place to do an introduction so I figured I would do it here as the transmission forum is where I will be the most. My name is Scott and I don't have a turbo Buick, that doesn't mean I don't want one! I have a 69 Elcamino with a 400 small block and a 200-4r tranny, The reason I'm here is because the tranny is giving me a hard time and I figured this is the place to gain some insight on the subject. Here are the problems. I have a code CU 200-4r tranny in my Elky, it shifts too soft and too early, also locks up the converter in 3rd and 4th gears, I only want 4th lockup. I have a blown up code CR-f tranny for parts the splines went on the stator. I want to swap the valve body, govener and accumulator from the CR-F to the CU. Will this be ok? The CR-F has the govener with the small weight on one side and the accumulator number ends in 92. From what I've read here those are the good parts. The reason for wanting to swap the valve body is because the CR-F has only 1 pressure switch [4th gear I believe]and the CU has at least a couple if I remember right.I am using a Bowtie Overdrives TV made easy kit, and have changed the TV spring. Is there anything else I can do to firm things up a bit while I'm in there? Like maybe loose a few check balls or drill a hole in the seperator plate bigger? If so which balls and which hole and how big? What are you guys using to hold the check balls it for reassembly,Grease? any help would be much appreciated.
