My original 86 gn 2004R died. I installed an 87 caddy 2004R to get back on the road, but it does not have the same power. I was told that I could switch out the throttle bodies, governors, etc. from the 86 tranny to regain performance. Has anyone else done this and did it work?

Before I would go to the hassle of doing all that.. I would get the BRF freshened up and throw it back in. Just my $.02

yes this will work and it will retain again the same manners of the original calibration providing the replacement trans is in good shape.install valve body ,seperator plate ,governor and servo ,boost valves and pr spring and away you go.
