2004r output shaft and rear internal gear

Rebuilding this one myself.
Is there a retaining ring that holds the rear internal gear onto the output shaft?
Took it apart a while back and can't remember or find any info in books and dvd's.

No rings. Most of them from 83 up are a fairly
heavy press fit. I'd rollerize the thrust in the rear internal gear as well as the big one on the rear support. then you can run the rear end play down to almost zero. Check end play on the bench by assembling the output shaft and all rear assemblies minus the steels and clutches. Makes it slot easier to check your clearances and machine the thrust surfaces for exact clearances.

This is a 85 year MCSS trans. Rear internal gear to shaft is not a press fit but not a loose fit either, I can slip it on and off with my hands. Made a fixture to assemble rear section on bench and check end clearance. Already a roller in the the rear internal gear but not the rear support.

There should Always be one small one there. The reverse input shell thrusts into it. You can add another so the planetary is rollerized also.
