Why is there two different splines, 27 and 30?

Is one better?

What do the builders on here prefer?

200's only came in a 27 spline count on the input shaft. It was the 700's that came in 27 or 30 spline count input shafts. The early 700's were 27 count, the later 30 count (larger diameter)
