The connector is for the gear status switch and the converter lockup. Since you are not running a computer the only thing you need to do is wire the converter lockup assuming you are retaining the lockup converter. I think B&M sells a kit to lock the converter on non-computer controlled cars.

ok so if i dont hook this connector up what will happen. i put an original style converter back in the car that matches with the tranny. and what exactly would i be looking for from b&m to hook this connector up

The transmissions were not designed to run unlocked for extended periods of time. May cause heat issues. What your looking for is B&M part# BMM-70244. This kit will lock the converter at the desired speed adjustable by the driver. Summit sells them.

Another option: TCI® 376600 Universal TCC Lock-Up Kit for 700R4 and 2004R. At one time I found their instruction sheet on the net.

Peter Row's wiring diagram for a lock up clutch should be in here somewhere...
700R4 Info Page 1

You will want to enable the lockup feature for street/highway use (as Mikestertwo indicated) assuming your trans build retains lockup.

The geometry at the carb for the TV cable is also very important (see the above link), but you knew that.

Is there any reason not to use one of the cheap 4th gear only lock-ups with an over-ride switch?

With the B&M setup it's a hands free operation. Add a vacuum switch and you don't have to touch anything while your driving. :)
