You don't understand. At the end of 2 years I can walk away - no money changes hands. When you think about it, it doesn't matter what GM says the residual is, other than to establish the payment. At the end of term, the car goes to auction, and it's worth whatever anybody is willing to bid on it. If the car auctions for, say, $15K at the end of term, GM is still better off selling it to me for that amount as they don't have to prep it and take it to auction and pay the money associated with that exercise.

THINK!!!

I just called my local Pontiac Dealer AW Golden (610)921-9121 and spoke to the Sales Manager, and told him about the $106.77 per month Smart Buy, and he spent a Considerable amount of time running the numbers for me to show that that was Totally IMPOSSIBLE unless you had a HUGE DownPayment or Trade In. $106.77 per month works out to a Purchase Price on a Smart Buy of ~$11,000 dollars.

Besides if that WERE Possible Myself and half this board would be running down to thier local Pontiac Dealer to get one!

Strike, please post the dealer you are using ,,I want one ...................$110 month,I will be there in 1hour....

I just got off the phone with 3 more dealers near me and Indeed they do want to deal, although the REALISTIC best price quote I got on a 2 year Smart lease/Lease was $297.00 Incluging tax - Zero Down. Thats a FAR cry from 106 a month!!!! He's Obviouly pulling our legs!!

I would say he not pulling our leg,,maybe we just are misinformed or he is a GM executive...
But please tell me the dealer so I can drive their or fly.......

Sounds like a very valueable car

Must have put money down or traded I work at a pontiac dealer and would purchase one if I could get it got 110 a month
with GMS and all with 2yr 15k per 0 down I could get get is aorund 300 and with less miles the price is a only 20.00 less please post up I sent you a PM with the info we would need to structure a deal.
Maybe you got lucky and they fukced up if so keep that signed contract safe. If they call you do not go back to sign anything else.

OK. One last time. Here are the figures:

1. I live in NY. There are no Smart Leases here, only Smart Buys, due to liability issues. I'm not knowledgeable in the law - look it up if you care to understand why this is so.

2. A 2 years, 24,000 miles Smart Buy is APR = 3.5%, residual = $20,909.70. These figures are determined by GM, not me, and they are etched in stone.

3. MSRP for 2004 GTO M6 is $33,190. The A4 is slightly more - there is a gas guzzler tax on the A4 (there is no gas guzzler tax on the M6).

4. Dealer discount was $3,012.36. Thus, the cash price was $30,177.64. Some have done even better.

5. GMAC rebate was $5,500. I'm in the North East. Rebates vary by region. $5,500 is the maximum rebate.

6. Dealer certificates - 3 @ $500 each, or $1,500. $1,500 is the maximum. Your dealer may have run out of certificates, may not be willing to give you any, may give you 1, may give you 2.

7. GM Card rebate was $3,896.64. Some have done better. There is a round up program on I didn't qualify for. Some have gotten north of $5,000 using this program.

8. My payment is $106.77 per month for 23 months.

9. The ONLY up front money was $67.50 for 2 years NY registration.

10. Government waste tire management fee - $12.50, government taxes not included in cash price - $2,489.66, government certificate of title fees - $10.00, and the dealer's doc fee - $45.00 are INCLUDED in my deal. INCLUDED!!!

That's it. I am not affiliated with GM, a dealer or anyone else. I am not lying. There is nothing underhanded or erroneous in what I'm writing.

Now, get this. There are guys who negotiated a better cash price and/or have larger GM Card rebates and/or live in states having lower taxes and fees who have paid even less than me. I believe I read one guy paid 60 some odd bucks a month.

Now, you can sit around and deny it, or get you azz to a Pontiac store and be driving a new GTO for less than you spend on beer. You decide. Remember, the deals change 1/3/05, so you're about out of time unless things get extended.

Oh, and if the dealer tells you it's a load of crap, tell him I said shove it.

Write back and tell me what exterior color, interior color and tranny you got.

Good luck and Happy New Year!!!

:D

That is what we were missing 6and 7
thats an extra $5,396 off the price the rest of us don't get we could get the 1,500 id dealer wants or has certificates to use butr if you do not have a gm card or have not used it much no 3,800 + from that.

Ok I got it Thanks !

On the GM Card, you need to get to the dealer and have him phone your card number in. Lots of guys on the GTO board had squat $$$ built up on their cards - BUT - GM rounded them up to $5,000 and in some cases even more.

GM absolutely WILL NOT reveal how these people were selected. Again, I was not selected. The point is, GM is blowing out the last of the 04 Goats, trying desperately to make room for the 05s, which are at the port and waiting to be transported inland as I write, and they are "manipulating" their GM Card rebates to make it possible. Of course, the guys who weren't selected are furious, but the lucky ones are living like pigs in poo poo.

I hope someone can make this work. I did. Hey, what's so bad about a TR and a Goat sharing a garage? It's ALL good. Good luck!!!

:D

Forgot to mention, you can get a buddy with a GM Card and lots of $$$ built up on it to put you on his card - then you get his $$$. There are lots of ways to skin this Goat!!!

Sounds like they are trying to give them away. I wonder why?

Because they have no class! If they were such good vehicles they wouldn't be unloading them like that. GM bombed big time on this one.

A lot of the dealers around here do not even carry them because they do not sell.

Guess I better go get one quick. Not!

I will stick w/a car with some class. The WS6. Black, of course.

Put them side by side and look. I have. There is no comparison. Even if you do get a good deal dollar wise you are still driving something that looks like a Grand Am. And that is just not cool. Unless you like the grand am. LOL.

If you really think the GTO is worse than a 4th gen F-Body, you are either ignorant or stupid  I have owned a GN, 3rd and 4th gen F-Bodies, and countless other GM cars and the GTO is by far a better car than any of them. Faster than all of them(stock) except my TTA. Much nicer interior, ride, comfort and better built.

They are selling them out to get the '05's on the lots.

As far as value, the GN's were worth nothing when you paid them off. I should know because I couldn't give mine away back in '92. Only after that did they start creeping up in value.

No accusations of ignorance or claiming that someone is stupid is necessary.

It is simply my opinion of my own experience.

If you cannot see it that way than YOU are either ignorant or stupid.

I never said anything about a GN.

Also your opinion of the topic is just that. an opinion. That is all.
It doesn't make it fact. If it was a fact, all of us here would own one. And that is simply not the case.

The point I was trying to make was that when you put one next to a ram air TA. There is no question which one looks better. And that is nothing more than my opinion.

Get a grip!:D

no,that is a fact ;)

Comparing a WS6 and GTO is too different marketing slots. But looking at what each cost, about the same between the two. About the same straight line performance between the two. Better built, interior, ride quality, and a real back seat. Those are facts.

Based on looks, the WS6 is far more eye catching. The goat is sedated.

Saying the WS6 is a better car doesn't jive with the facts. Its a completely different car. I had one, a 96 WS6 and loved it. I know what the car is and what its not. The GTO is just a better car without the aggressive body.

Where did I say that?

Come on man, quit trying to put words in my mouth.

I only said it has more class and looks better. Period.

The monaro aka pontiac GTO was recently voted the best muscle car in the UK. Do a little bit more research and you would find that the monaro is a highly valued and desirable car all around the world. The monaro with lower power than the GTO actually costs more in its home country and nearly 3X as much in the UK. The vauxhall monaro sold out within 3 months and holden currently sells all their monaros (many are placed in a waiting list).

The GTO is a great car for the price. Where else can you find a car with vette power/drive train, BMW interior and Toyota reliability, definately not with ford. This retro styling is a passing fad, a couple of years from now the "jellybean" look might be the IT thing. The problem with teh mustang is that when the retro fad wares off what you are left with is a car with bad interior, SRA, below par quality/fit&finish and several hundred K clones.

The GTO was never ment to be a cash cow for GM. They were never going to sell more than 16K GTO, since the Holden factory is already maxed out. There are only 2.5-1K GTOs left, since 15.7Ks were made. IMO the GTO has been a success for GM, since it shown non-GM people that GM has the capability of building a quality/classy car that matches is not surpass some european makers (in terms of quality, fit and finish and maturity). Look over at VW boards going crazy over the GTO, the car have even attracted some japanese buyers.

BTW when the "NEW GTO" doesn't make the numbers GM will give it the ole YANK HO & No Not YENKO

just got a quote from a broker "friend" of mine. $32,886 for the 05' GTO. $25449 for the 05' Mustang GT.....

So far its done that. Projected was 16K, made 15.7K.

Shortened '05 is projected at 12K. I'm pretty sure they'll hit that target also.

The GTO is planned for quite a few more years.
