I EMAILED THE COMPANY THAT MAKES THAT KIT AND INQUIRED ABOUT THE 2003 COBRA MAKING 1174 HP ON THEIR WEBSITE. I ASKED WHAT WAS DONE TO THE MOTOR TO MAKE IT HANDLE THAT HP. THIS IS WHAT HE WROTE :

That one is a stock block, stock crank, stock Manley rods and new forged Manley pistons. The heads have a Stage 1 port job and FR500 cams. The rest of the grunt comes from the Twin Turbo kit.

3V = 753 RWHP (05-06 Mustang)

4V = 1,172 RWHP (96-04 Cobra)

SO BASICALLY HEADS AND CAMS AND A SET OF PISTONS WITH THIS KIT WILL THROW DOWN SOME SILLY HP. IMPRESSIVE. OF COURSE TRANNY, REAR, ETC.... WILL HAVE TO BE STRENGTHED BUT STILL..... DAM!!!! IT WILL COST YOU 3-4 TIMES AS MUCH TO MAKE A TB GO THAT FAST.

BTW, I ASKED ABOUT ACCESSORIES IN THE MOTOR AND THIS IS WHAT HE REPLIED "ALL Accessories are retained and not compromised. A few lines have to be bent around a little but nothing catastrophic."

it is getting a viper spec T56 and the stock rearend is actually pretty strong. Comes factory w/ 31 spline axles...

The twin turbo kit for my VW .:R32 is around $30K installed ( HPA Motorsports Inc ) for 565HP so I'd jump all over $7K for a 'stang kit.

For a single turbo kit $7K (plus installation) for 425-ish HP ( EIP Tuning VW R32 Turbo Systems Page: -VW-R32 Turbo, VW R32 ). After my warranty is up next year I think this is in my future.

I LOVE GTI'S (I HAVE AN 03 VR6) BUT THAT HPA KIT FOR $30K IS JUST A JOKE. $30K FOR 565 HP IS SUCH A SCAM. EIP IS A LITTLE MORE REASONABLE BUT A FEW BOLT-ONS ON ANY STOCK GN WILL ACCOMPLISH THAT FOR A FEW G'S. I DO LIKE THE R32 THO, KINDA HEAVY..... IT'S LIKE 500 LBS HEAVIER THEN THE VR6. THAT KINDA DEFEATS THE PURPOSE OF A GTI IF U ASK ME. STILL LIKE EM THO. INTERIOR IS PLUSH, AND CHICKS SEEMS TO DIG EM TOO....:

Well the 500 extra pounds is due to the AWD system which makes it a completely different animal......it's a trade-off I'd make any day. It's a great total package. For the weight it could use a little more power but the handling and braking make up for it and it really is an outstanding/fun daily use car (IMO).
