I'm about to change the fluid and filter on my car. Does anyone have the part number for the filter or just any 200r4 filter works? Thanks. Jr

I tried a few auto parts stores filters until I finally went to the GM dealer and got the right one- it was more expensive, but it fit! I'll look for the part number tomorrow...

I haven't changed mine yet. The Wix filter sounds like what I would want or I would go with an AC Delco. I would never use a Fram for anything.

I used the Delco 8639951, but I'm not sure that price is accurate- I paid $67 + tax in May of '08!!

That is about what I paid for my Roadmaster 4L60 filter around the same time. They are pricey, but you have the peace of mind knowing that you are keeping your GM all GM.:biggrin:

Kool beans guys. I'll order thAt one asap since my transmission is acting up some. I'll try the filter and clean fluid to see if it help any before I go forking over so much cash for a rebuild or refurbished unit. Living paycheck to paycheckis no fun

Anything to check/do while the transmission pan is off? I am going to install the sending unit for my new temperature gauge. Other than that, the reason I am changing filter and fluid is because of erratic shifting. Hopefully, it will help bunches!! Will adding Sea Foam be a good idea?

Possibly consider installing a trans drain in pan if you don't already have one. Makes trans fluid changing much less messy. Many universal kits out there that work well and have instructions in kit.

Drain plug kit, that's it! I don't know what the sender unit is you are mentioning?

Oh yeah, I was thinking that the drain plug could be used as the mounting spot for the temperature sensing unit for my new transmission fluid temperature gauge. Just would have to mount it on the wall of the pan and not directly under it so it doesn't get scraped off over speed bumps and such. It can be done right? Just have to find the right brass fittings.
