Is there any difference in Transmissions from a TTA and a Grand National?

Also, what is different in the chassis/drivetrain on GTA's & TTA's? Any crossmember or driveshaft differences?

Im planning a 3.8 turbo & TH200r4 swap in my 90 V6 Firebird and am trying to resource parts to do the swap. Ive found the V6 Swap motor Mounts but am trying to see what else I'll need to mount the engine/tranny up to the car!!

One big thing is the TTA has an electric speedo. The GN is cable. The valve bodies are slightly different as well.

So, does the electric speedo trans cost more or is it even avalible? My 90 Firebird is electric speedo.

I am not sure. I do not think there are a lot of TTA 200 cores laying around. But there amy be other cars that had this transmission. Probably a different valve body though. Maybe someone that knows can chime in.

I see, I'll probably end up going w/ a th350 or 400. I got a TH350 I could build up myself. I may use that. Im going to beef up the front suspension/brakes next quarter @ my auto tech college. Im gonna rebuild the steering setup as well as put new shocks up front!! May put a beffier sway bar too.

The specific differences are so minor that you wouldn't notice anything. I think the differences are the governor due to the rear end gear ratios, 1-2 accumulator housing was slightly different and the speedo drive. You just need to put the electronic sending unit for the speedo in place of the cable drive. Should be able to get the part you need from one of the advertisors on this board.

Just use the Buick one ... no problem .. TTA ones are goin to be expensive I have 4 or 5 if you really NEED a TTA one :biggrin:

I do need a transmission but not TTA specific. I thought there may have been external differences such as torque mount & tailshaft differences. Im considering the 2004r for my 3.8L swap into my 90 Firebird and am trying to gather what I need to make it work!!

right now we are just goin to sit on them .. TTAs are climbing up on prices so the parts will follow ... I am a parts whore My 10,508 mile TTA is goin to be sold however Time to trim some cars
