Hello everyone,

Well I picked up a 200r4 core for a rebuild to stick in my oldsmbuick. Here are the numbers (code) off of it.

090-1T840G0128

Besides it being a 1984 tranny what else does this tell me?

I have rebuilt several engines this will be my first tranny. So any input is welcome.

Is there anything I need to know before I crack it open?

I would like to use a 3000 rpm stall lock up converter in it, I have a 3000 rpm in the 350th right now, it great for launching, but I would like to lock up the converter in the higher gears and have the OD for the highway.

it is an olds mobile v8 trans .valve body calibration ,servo and governor must be replaced if you plan on using it in a gn ,or anything with a 3.42 or numerically higher rear end ratio.

It's an OG code tranny...

Not one of the more prefered or sought after cores, but can be made to do what ya want.

You bet there is, better get to studing and searching. I'd start with the "strenghtening the 2004r" post at the top of this fourm.

Well, I got it apart. No big surprises. I will be posting some pictures to my web site and attach a link to this post.

Because the "direct clutch" the outside case is scored where the band was riding against it. The band is semi worn.

The 4th clutch looks to be in nice shape.

The pump is a 7 vane and the housing appears to be in good shape, No visible wear. Will micrometer it out Monday @ work. But the outside seems to has either a casting flaw or hairline cracks.

When I get the pictures posted you will see what I’m talking about.
