link was very interesting but as i noticed one very important word...
Amateur astronomy through the eyes of a computer geek –

Sounds like hes been reading alot of skeptic magazine. and his math is off but no one prolly cares to debunk his debunking because then someone would debunk the debunking from the original debunking making it all a complete waste of time to do and read.

So its humble to label himself as an Amateur to maybe defuse the issue a little? so easy to figure out a caveman could do it eh? if only he had the correct math to back it up and not reworked papers from professors.

Anyway Nothing will happend on that day so no biggie.

Hmmmm.....Seemed to be most of his points were backed by SCIENTIFIC data from Nasa and other reputable sources. Specifically the planet alignment that we were discussing. NASA's own data and pictures in the various degrees of perspective show no such alignment with any 'dark rift' nor even alignment amongst themselves. No matter...Bottom line, 2012 will be any other year and December will be any other month of any other year...I'll still be sinking money into my Buick :D

PS.....If you want an official Rocket Scientist's answer:

There is no planet alignment in 2012 or any other time in the next several decades. As to the Earth being in the center of the Milky Way, I don't know what this phrase means, If you are referring to the Milky Way Galaxy, we are rather far toward the edge of this spiral galaxy, some 30,000 light years from the center. Concerning a polar shift, I also don't know what this means. If it means some sudden change in the position of the pole (that is, the rotation axis of the Earth), then that is impossible. There is no point in speculating about the consequences of something that has never happened and never will. Before geologists discovered the role of plate tectonics (about 60 years ago), there was some speculation that a polar shift was involved in transforming the Antarctic, for example, from a warm to a cold climate, but now we know it was the Antarctic continent that moved, not the rotation pole. The bottom line is that there is no possibility of a "polar shift" and no danger associated with one.

Yes Morrison is not an independent researcher surviving on the good will of his patrons. He is a high-ranking NASA official, and the US Government signs his paychecks and carries the full authority of the government.

But here again lies some of the problems, not much faith in anything fed to me by the government.

its all a bunch of hoopla, we're semi posting back and forth about what we both think is not going to happen, but cant agree on who is wrong as to why it wont happen?!...say what?!..LOL

I can say the Buick is running good today!
