Well at least the GMHTP article lists the suppliers.

Will it fit with a bigger swaybar? 36mm??? Or is it right up on the factory bar?

Yes the unit will fit with the aftermarket swaybars, you will need to remove or modify any kirbans or stock (monte ss ) style triangle braces though Like reccomended with any stock location stretch intercooler, install two small hose lengths on the swaybar to avoid rubbing.

I was not intending that this thread was to bail on the FMIC's, just that they are still wanted and loved so I will stick up for them. :D

My bad, I posted the wrong V2 numbers. I found a picture I had of my V2 with a tap measure on it and found some core numbers online. There was a huge thread on FMIC's that I found
http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=35424&highlight=v2+core+size
V2 core 24x13x4 Total area is 1248.
You can tell its 4 inchs deep by looking at the photo on CAS's site. Its a little wider on each side of his 3" pipe sticking out of the tank.

The bigger FMICs WILL see more air and colder air. Even if the shrouds good (which MPE's is huge), its still not in front of the car with nothing blocking it. And under hood temps are not even close to ambient temps the FMIC lives in up front.

Now, if you put a larger fan on the crank pulley, you might have something there to equal the playing field a little.

MPE, ever thought of a bigger crank fan?
Buick engineers seemed to think it was necessary to design and spend money on it.

Yes the stock crank fan works very well.....I remember some years ago we mounted one to our bench grinder....damn thing almost took off!;) :D they do move air, and the shrouding kits do work for the stock IC's....we have a kit that removes the stock mechanical fan and replaces it with a 12" slimline electric fan....we have only done two setups thus far, so they're not really out there yet, but they will be soon... I will be providing Nick Micale and the other vendors with stock of the fan kits (will come with shroud for rear of intercooler, fan unit, hardware, wiring and 30A relay)

thanks!

electric fan kit

we were working on this subject this week and have completed 10 shroud/mounting kits as they were sent to coaters for powdercoating this afternoon!

Fan is a FLEX a LITE 12" puller with adjustable thermostat and turn on switch override, kits will come complete with wiring, relays and the thermostat controller/probe.

Rated at 1250 CFM (much more than the stock fan can pull and is a constant 1250 CFM (not related to engine RPM) Removal of the stock fan and fan hub is necessary. All shrouds are powdercoated MIRROR BLACK! and will only mount to MPE INTTR1 intercooler units, please email us for further inquiries for use with other intercooler manufacturers!

Pricing is $219.95

heat soak what???;)

Keith, does that new fan kit work with your stretched stock location IC or just your new IC? :)

BTW, Now that I'm thinking about it, this weekend I'll send out the cash for shipping out my lower shroud for my IC to replace mine that got damaged. Thanks for helping get me a new one.

Hey,
keith mease been trying to reach you about my 3" downpipe for my 83' t-type. Has it been finished?

Seems like a nice setup.

What is a good temperature to set the fan turn-off?

Has anyone ever measured what temperature a stock mount with a stock fan usually runs at?
