Since I cant find any BFG 235/60/15 for the front has anyone used 245/60/15 on front, they measure 26.6, 235/60/15 are 26.10 and on rear have 255/60/15, they are 26.8. Will the 245/60/15 rub on front?
I had them on the front of a non turbo Regal (84) a few years back. If I hit a good size pot hole or something they rubbed a little and if I turned the wheel to full lock either way they rubbed a tiny bit if I recall. I daily drove it for a few years like that, nothing bad enough to cause problems.
Just went through the same thing, couldnt find the BFG 235/60/15 anywhere. Ended up going with the 215 65 15 before they stopped making them too. They actually look pretty good on the car since the tread with on the radial T/A's is much wider than other tires of the same size.
why do people get so caught up with trying to use Radial TA's? other than looking "right" and being relatively cheap for a name brand tire, they aren't a very good tire.
My GN stock rims have 245/60R15's no issues and car sits a little low as well...
I think it was a cheapo sears brand "road hugger"
I think each car sits a little different on the frame according to what I recall reading in one of Kirban's posts. I know that I've seen at least one that looked a little crooked from the rear- not from an collision.
I too wondered why they must be radial T/A?
I was reading through the latest edition of HotRod in my reading room and came upon an ad for tirerack.com. indeed I did nor see any radial t/a tires in that size but there were in other brands.
Do you have a preference or is this just what you have always bought?
Been using firestone firehawks 235X60X15 on all three of my TR's for years. Roll and ride smooth, balance well never had an issue and they have very good traction for a street tire much better than BFG's. Diameter very close to 215X65X15 originals. Use 255X70X15 on my van and 235X70X15 on the pickup. Again never had a failure or needed a replacement and better pricing.
I would use the Firestone's if I hadn't just bought 2 new BFG 255/60/15 for rear.Didn't know the 235/60/15 would be this hard to get. One of my pet peeves to have all 4 tires match on the GN.
