I have a 1983 T-Type Regal motor that I am rebuilding, albeit slowly, to put into a Regal eventually. In my time of toiling over the motor, I have begun to ask questions about transmission options.
It is to my understanding that a 4L60E with the 6 bolt bellhousing pattern should mate up to the '83 block. That begs the question of how I would best control the transmission in the absence of an ECM?
(The ECM was missing when I purchased the engine and I intend to move towards a standard carb setup for it).
I am looking to the 4L60E due to its availability, general reliability, ease of maintenance, aftermarket support, and built in overdrive.
Any help is appreciated!
