That's what the TCI converter slip calc shows!

28in tire-6350 rpms@123mph.

Think it was sucking up some hp?:(

I dont think so I know so

Bruce or Chris what is tcs planning to do about all these bad 9-11 converters

His is acting just like mine did except mine got so bad I went thu the traps on 28" tire 3.42 gear at 119 mph on the rev limter set at 6400 same day it was running 130+ mph in lockup

I really like the 9-11 converter when they work so can one of you guys get tcs to fix the problem :(

Dang it! My Vig (#6 pump - 3400 stall) shows 5.55% slip - UNLOCKED! Unless I'm running the numbers wrong... I'm trapping 115.6 MPH @ 5480 RPM's; 3.73 gear; 27.8" tire; 3rd gear (1.00).

That sounds about right.

Do you calculate it based on the MPH on the timeslip or the max MPH and RPM in Directscan ?

If I go by timeslip MPH of 124 I get 9%. If I go by DS the rpm is 5575 and MPH is 115 and that is almost 20% slippage. What would be the proper way to calculate it in this case ?

my 9/11 converter doesn't want to lockup at WOT...but locks when i normally cruise...go figure that one...we have come to a conclusion that my converter can't hold any power when it's locked...so it unlocks itself...so i can add to the bad 9/11 converter fiasco

Mph on timeslip and RPM on the F.A.S.T.

See my mph differs greatly on DS vs timeslip. I dunno why ? DS measures @ 18 frames/second you'd think it would be more accurate.

I was thinking my convertor is 3-400rpm too high. possibly more.

I have some DS files available...Anyone want to have a look ?

Sorry for trampling on your thread NEARING.

MPH on the time slip is an average. There are 3 beams to cross at the finish and the mph is the average of them.

Its because the tracks don't show what your "real mph" was they average the last certain number of feet and thats how they get your mph, so the direct scan should read high by a couple of mph right at the last second i would think depending on how fast the car is.

Man this 9/11 stuff is beginning to scare me, i don't have direct scan or a device good enough for telling me rpm at the end of the track but so far so good, hopefully ill be ok since its a lower stalled unit. Good luck guys

Clayton, are you running 28" tall tires? DS gets mph from the vss just like the speedometer, and this is only right for the stock height tires. You can adjust the tire height in ds to give the correct mph but you can't back-correct a stored run, you have to set it before recording.

I use 28x10 slicks.

I had DS set for 26.1" tires so I guess mine will be out of whack.

I'll have to wait until next year to check it out I guess.

Thanks for the info.

no one should mis interpret this thread .it is only the 3800 9/11 convertor that is experiencing this problem, and there is no data with the convertor locked so we dont really have all the info here.one thing is for sure ,the 3800 is too loose.it will produce a slightly beter 60 footer but thats about it.3800 stall is needed in certain applications ,however the 3800 stall is not very efficient .therefore a 3400 should be the medium when you need to leave at high boost providing the brakes can hold the car when footbraking.it would be nice to get some results with a 3400 and t brake.bet itll hit 3800

I haven't seen any of these either

Not saying they are not working correctly, but the is the first we have heard of it. Not a huge problem and most work very well. It may be that one unit. As for Don's I am a little curious about that one. If we sold it to you, please contact as I would like to follow upo on this.

Bruce, you have my 9/11 (Nick sent it in)...it has never locked up well or at all under wot.....still waiting for some kind of evaluation

Woody, we were going to set your converter up in the test car, but opted to send it to Rusty at TCS to open and check first. Being it had been installed already we did not want to take the chance of contaminating a new trans if something was inside the converter. It has not been forgotten, just want to make sure we have best possible scenario when it does get real world testing. We will let you know as soon as it has been tested. Nick is also very interested in the outcome.

Talk to you soon, Mark

Had a brain fart!

Nearing:

I posted this in your other thread, but meant to put it here!

I've got a 3200 (9x11) and when I used to lock it in 2nd, it would shudder and actually drive right through the clutch(es). I (for obvious reasons) didn't try that but a couple of times before deciding that wasn't a good thing.:) I actually thought there was something wrong with the tranny the first time it happened. Anyway, locking mine in 3rd has produced the best results. With that said, let me also add that I've been worried about locking it and have not been doing it much. All of the runs the last time we were out were unlocked and it did fine. Truthfully I was having too much fun and forgot the hit the switch.:o I think if you'd get the stall lowered to the 32-3400 range you'd be much happier with it up top, but you're going to have to fine tune the bottom to get the 60' that you want. I didn't think you were going to like it being that loose on top (lockup or not). I have a 9" lockup that is BIG FUN on the launch, but after about 660' or so it's all done for the day! That one taught me that for my current setup 3400 seems to work best.:)
