I have a set of 28x10.5x15 slicks now all that I need are some wheels to put them on what back spacing do I need? With out rolling the fenders.

so would 4" or 4.5" backspacing be enough that the fender lips dont need rolling?

true 10.5 slicks are very wide. 28" slicks are pretty tall. Rolling the fender keeps the sharp edge from cutting the sidewall when cornering. With a 4" backspacing they may rub the frame a little with an 8" rim. 3.75" bs would be close to optimum, but still might need fender rolling if the edges are sharp.

it seems like a t-type rim should be perfect for this size tire? dont they hace like a 3.75" backspace? thanks

yeah but they are only 7" wide so the tire centerline is 1/2" closer to the frame than with an 8" wide wheel and will likely result in rub.

so how would the 8.5" look-a-like t-type rims fair with this size slick and better yet what would be the largest slick that could fit between the fender well without hitting the frame or the fender lip and what size rim and backspacing would be necessary?i ve bought all kinds of wheel combos and just when i think i got it figured out a tire seems to have different dimensions to it like an et vs a slick or a drag radial-thanks matt

From my experience the 28x10.5 in MT will work on a 15x8 with 3.5 bs. I dont think it will work with any more bs than 3.5. The problem comes in at the rear frame rail by the tail pipes. Of course this all depends on the centering of the rear end.

I run that tire on a 10 in rim. But my frame is notched with 5in bs.

Good luck

tubes are "recommended" for all slick type tires because the sidewalls are porous......a lot of folks get away not running tubes just by adding air regularly

regarding 28X10 slicks........until you are running low 1.4 60' times a 28X9 slick is all the tire you need.......they are much easier to fit

ps: I use 28X9 and run high 1.4x-low 1.5x 60' times and I am not traction limited (tbrake launces at 15+ lbs.....)

Are the 28x9s the same height as the 28x10.5s....i know that sounds funny but just b/c the numbers are the same does not always mean they are the same size......

Do you have to roll the fender lips with the 28x9s too??

no, 28x9's are about 27.5 tall.....8"rim with 4" bs will clear everything with no rolling or notching

Hmmm...my 15x8 welds have 3.5" backspacing...what would i need to do to make it work?

nothing.....3.5 bs is prolly ideal....if your car is sagging, some air in the air bags may be necessary
