2nd to third shift flaring/surging

when driving my car in a normal manner it shifts through all gears fine, but when i hit the gas 3/4 or so it seems that the 2nd to third shift lags or flares (not sure of the correct term). I also notice that when it does this the boost gauge gets pegged (full boost). Will a shift kit help remedy this situation? I have already tried to adjust the Tv cable to no avail. I was thinking of getting the Art Carr shift kit or the CK perf. kit. Any ideas or comments would be much appreciated. I also did add a little more tranny fluid thinking that maybe i was sucking some air or something. Still does it!

A shift kit will probably not fix your problem.
Sometimes, if caught early, a slug in the spacer plate works for third gear. But you are just putting off the inevitable. You are pulling through the clutches.
Probably time to start thinking about a rebuild.

it is pointing to a 3rd clutch pack that is slipping on apply.does it get worst with more boost and LESS throttle as well?

Chris, I don't know if it gets worse with more boost as I am having other issues w/ the car (knock), so when i see the knock retard occurring i back off on throttle. It seems to shift very nice in cruise mode (drivin like old lady), but when i go 1/2 throttle to 3/4 throttle it just seems like it's not getting into third the way it should and the boost gauge goes way up. The other car i owned (we4) it would distincly shift through the gears at 3/4 throttle and the boost gauge would respond to each shift (climb then lessen then climb again......) This car responds with 1st to second then it just seems to not go anywhere and then the boost pegs out.

Short of a rebuild, Is there anything that can be done to this thing with the tranny in the car, mainly improving the flare or surging from 2nd to third? I did also notice that the car had a bang shift from first to second, but i adjusted tv cable toward front of car to ease the shift from 1st to second.
