3 dot buick rods

Whats the difference in the 3 dot to the 2 dot? I have a set of three dot rods out of a 1980 3.8 turbo motor.

Good question. I've got one set each of 2 and 3 dot rods. I'd like to know more about them. Both use cap screws to secure the rod cap. I know the caps are different, but what else?
