I've had a 4-3 bindup on a manual downshift since I built the trans. Enough so that it hot spotted the steels on the 4th clutch, the overrun looks good. Apparenly 4th was slow to release & the overrun locked as soon as it was pulled into 3rd.

Now for the ?? Could it be that by installing the 4th acum. piston in the case first then the spring (instead of spring in case first) be causing the 4th clutch too long to release? I did this to increase the firmness of the 3 -4 shift as some had suggested.

FLIPPING THE ACCUMULATOR ACTUALLY results in a softer shift with new frictions and steels.poor descision based on false tech.use a white 700r4 1/2 spring installed on top of the piston and stop smoking the frictions.the 4/3 ehaust is instantaneous on a 2004r just follow the path back to the v body .it doesnt drain thru the accumulator ,it drains at the v body right at the shift valve look elsewhere, such as lo line at wot etc.KARAGYOZIE.

I guess what I was thinking

I was thinking that maybe with the piston in the case 1st when the press. was released from the 4th circuit, the acum. being pushed back up by the spring it would delay the release of the clutch if it wasn't exhausting fast enough.

Whew!!!! that's what I was thinking:D
