I have a TH200R4 attached to my GN engine but it's not the BR-code tranny.

In my wiring harness (from GN '87) there are 4 wires coming to tranny. The last time I took the transmission oil pan off, I saw only three wires in it. I have attached the GN harness to this transmission with some violence..

I have made a manual switch to torque converter lockup. It does not work. It grounds the purple wire coming from the tranny.

How could I know/ measure which wire in my tranny is for what purpose?



And one more thing: How does driving without a TV cable hurt my tranny? How do I know if it's already hurt?
 
The terminals on the connector are labeled (molded on). On a BR-code tranny, they are as follows: A-12V, D-ground. B goes to 4th gear pressure switch and C goes to 3rd gear switch. If you only have three wires, you probably do not have the 3rd gear pressure switch terminal but the TCC system will still work without this wire & switch.

The 12V source is 'key-on' and normally runs through the brake pedal switch. The computer recieves signals from the two valve body pressure switches.

The TCC solenoid is normally activated by the ECM, or an added switch, grounding terminal D. Test the solenoid, electrically, by measuring resistance between terminals A and D. Should be about 25 ohms.
And one more thing: How does driving without a TV cable hurt my tranny? How do I know if it's already hurt?
:eek: Don't do that! The TV cable controls the operating line pressure on the transmission so that it can meet the torque demand. It's the transmsission's only way of knowing what your engine is doing! If it's lazy and/or slipping now, it may be toast.

That's just the info I needed!

I'll have to try driving with the TV cable though it's dangerous/fun when shifting down at slippery surface.. (My car is not very heavy).
